Models

Interventions have become more and more common as a great tool to obtain willingness from an addict or alcoholic to get them to enter treatment. As more interventionist try to enter the industry they bring in new ideas; some effective and some not so effective. At Family First Intervention we use our own model called Spared which stands for Systemic Process of Accountability, Repair, Education & Direction. Our goal is not to force or coerce your loved one into treatment but to make them accountable by directing them and the family onto a new path. As the model suggest, we also strive to educate and repair the family and the family system that has been broken by the addiction all while striving toward the end goal of making the addict or alcoholic accountable for their addiction. Almost everyone says they have to want help or hit bottom in order to get well. There is truth to that, however unless the family, the boundaries and the platform in which the addiction exists changes, they will never want help or hit a bottom. Our process is similar to the traditional systemic model whereas we make changing the entire situation and family system our first goal. Until the family gets healthy first, it is almost impossible for the addict or alcoholic to follow and get well also.

In addition to the two models above there is also the Johnson Model and Invitational Model of intervention that Family First Intervention rarely if ever uses. The focus of any intervention should always have a systemic component so the family can get on a healthy path also. Intervention is not about a motivational speech to temporarily convince the addict or alcoholic to change, it is about setting healthy boundaries so families and their loved ones don’t have to keep going through the crazy cycle of insanity. It is not the fault of the family for the addiction, however it is almost always the responsibility of the family for allowing their loved one to take control of the families emotions and decisions to make their addiction more comfortable at the expense of the family. Family First Intervention is able to help you and your loved one to come together and get well to increase the success rate of sobriety and long term success.
